Diamond Lace Set In Progress

Helen and I are knitting a surprise gift for a colleague who's having twins - one boy and one girl! She's doing the blue half of the set, and I'm doing the yellow half. So far we've done the body of the sweaters and started on the sleeves.

Here's the body:

The set also includes mittens, bootees and a hat. Here's a closeup of the diamonds:

A Gorgeous Afghan, by Helen

Isn't it lovely? I wish I could knit nothing but blankets, most of the time...

What I've Been Busy With...

Another baby project - a top secret one, for a colleague at work who's having twins! but doesn't know that Helen and I are busy knitting for her...

The set comes from an old Red Heart pattern book (from the '70s? '60s? No bar code, ISBN or date!) and includes a sacque, a cap, mittens and bootees, all with a diamond lace pattern.

I'll try to post an in-progress photo by the weekend.

Sweaters!

Hope everyone's busy doing their crossword puzzles!

Meanwhile, here are some sweaters:

The alpaca wool sweater I finally finished (see Sam's love fest with the project in progress at the bottom of this blog):

Watch for New Items Coming Soon!

Helen's finished a lovely big thick sweater, I've made another hat and a series of bootees, and hope to finish two more hats this weekend - one to match the baby-size mittens I made last week and the other in wine red, with matching bootees. Then it's on to the two big blankets I started...

Photos to come:

Yellow blanket with hood

Hat with fun fur

Bootee, hat, mitten sets

Baby Items III

I've made three hats, one with easy yarn and one with tricky fluffy yarn:

...And Among My Friends Also!

Helen and I knit together at lunchtimes, often joined by commentators, cheerers-on, well-wishers and those who like to call us ninnies! Right now she's knitting a super-complicated cable pattern vest which I might attempt once I've completed this round of baby items.

Here's Helen:

And here's a closeup of the cables:
