The blanket was actually a pattern for a shawl that I found off Canadian Living.
The hat is the ruffle hat I love making.
Coming soon - photos of my nephew wearing the hat!
"Jamie snorted briefly and picked up a needle and a ball of yarn.
"‘It's no verra difficult, Sassenach. Look – this is how ye cast up your row.’
Drawing the thread out through his closed fist, he made a loop round his thumb, slipped it onto the needle, and with a quick economy of motion, cast on a long row of stitches in a matter of seconds. Then he handed me the other needle and another ball of yarn.
‘There – you try.’”
"It was additionally disconcerting to have madame knitting all the way there, in a public conveyance; it was additionally disconcerting yet, to have madame in the crowd in the afternoon, still with her knitting in her hands as the crowd waited to see the carriage of the King and Queen."

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Marcy!
ReplyDeleteMy writing blog is here.
This is so cool, to share excerpts that relate to your love of knitting, then to give us the instructions to knit a scarf. That hat is soooooo cute. I tried knitting years ago and would always drop stitches. I found crocheting way easier, but never have time for it anymore.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I keep trying to crochet more - all I can do so far is make a looong chain.
ReplyDeleteOh wow fabulous! I love the colours and textures.
ReplyDeleteThank you Madeleine!
ReplyDeleteWow! You're really talented. I'm impressed. I'm not very good at making stuff and appreciate those who can make things of any kind.
